I Cirkus Summarum er alting som i et rigtigt cirkus - bare helt anderledes. Mens I venter på årets store cirkus oplevelse, så oplev stjernerne fra DR’s børne-tv: DR BIG BANDET med Bamse, Bruno og Signe, DR Børnekoret, Honik, Jacob Riising, Lille Nørderne, Louise hart, Sebastian Klein, Sigrid og mange flere. De slår sig løs som cirkusartister, mens musikere fra det fantastiske DR Big Bandet bakker op som cirkusorkester. Pilot James T. Hoffman je zatčen FBI ve chvíli, kdy přiletí do Spojených států s velkým množstvím kokainu v letadle. Je s ním jeho žena a dva synové, kteří ho při letu do Bolívie doprovázeli. James souhlasí, že se stane informátorem, a FBI ho i s rodinou přemístí do San Diega. Zvláštní agent Benedict Tisa působí jako jeho spojka a nadále na něj naléhá, aby nastražil léčku na svého šéfa Morgana Hetricka, který má na zámořských účtech miliony dolarů z obchodu s narkotiky. Hoffman se rozhodne hrát to na obě strany.
