Parched, ragged, and dragging a heavy iron chain, a lone Gambler hobbles eastward through the endless desert. Ten je hodlá použít jako jakési „gladiátory“ pro oblíbené zápasnické „hry“, při nichž má vítěz právo poraženého zabít. Události ale dostanou jiný spád, se kterým prefekt nepočítal. Nakonec se rozhodne disk lidem vrátit. Allan, Pet, Gailan a jeden z bojovníků - Dalton - se vydávají do ukrytého vědeckého institutu, kde ilegálně pracují člověčí vědci. Doufají, že by tam mohl být přístroj, na kterém by si mohli disk přehrát.
