Filmu dominuje nejen herecký výkon Philippa Noireta, ale také ulice a uličky, atmosféra pařížského Montmartru přeplněného všemi barvami pleti, drobnými přestupky proti zákonu i skutečnými zločiny. Ve svém rajonu si policista René vybudoval za dlouhá léta služby dokonalý systém, jak "vycházet" se svými ovečkami i se svým platem. Jednoho dne však dostane mladého partnera, který se ohání zákonem a policejní etikou na každém kroku. René nechce ponechat nic náhodě a snaží se mladého policistu přivést na "správnou" cestu všemi možnými prostředky.

Čas je neúprosný, ale i poté, co hrabě Mascetti (Ugo Tognazzi) ve druhém dílu skončí na invalidním vozíčku, se Moji přátelé snaží užívat si život jako za mlada. Mascetti žije v ústavu, kam ho jeho kamarádi chodí navštěvovat a kde ostatním pacientům zpestřují život různými lumpárnami. Po čase tu Melandri (Gastone Moschin) už klasicky najde objekt pro svoji lásku, o které si myslí, jako vždy, jen to nejlepší. Asi není náhoda, že v ústavu žije i Sig. Nevertheless, despite all disagreements, our travelling companions soon become firm friends -and after several exciting adventures they finally succeed in locating the manger.
