S nimi se má zúčastnit Her dobré vůle juniorů v Los Angeles. Takovému lákadlu samozřejmě neodolá, sestaví družstvo a odjíždí do místa konání her. Tam však podlehne atmosféře velké sportovní události - účastní se tiskovek, dává interview v televizi - a málo se věnuje svému týmu. To má za následek, že se mladí hokejisté chovají "jako utržení ze řetězu", a co je ještě horší, přestávají opět podávat solidní výkony. Gordon zklame až tak dalece, že se nedostaví na rozhodující zápas a Kačerům hrozí vyřazení ze soutěže. Zachrání je jejich učitelka, která sice neví o hokeji zhola nic, ale je v potřebnou dobu tam, kde má být. Gordon Bombay "jde do sebe" a za pět minut dvanáct přichází na stadion...
